Intimate Weddings at Montrose

Montrose is ideal for intimate weddings in Edinburgh, offering flexible use of both floors for up to 45 seated guests. The downstairs room seats up to 20 guests, while the upstairs room seats up to 25. Combined, the venue can host a seated lunch or dinner for up to 45 guests. Many couples choose to welcome up to 25 guests with drinks downstairs before moving upstairs for their wedding breakfast. Later in the evening, guests can return downstairs for mingling, dancing and drinks from the bar, with space to welcome an additional 15–20 evening guests. Although ceremonies cannot take place at Montrose itself, the local registry office is conveniently located on the Royal Mile. A number of our recent couples have also chosen to hold their ceremony at The Collective, just a short walk from Montrose, before joining us for drinks and dinner.

Seasonal Food & Organic Wines

Menus at Montrose showcase the very best seasonal and locally sourced produce, with dishes inspired by Scotland’s natural larder. Ingredients include wild game, rare breed cattle, foraged ingredients, and organic fruit and vegetables. For your meal, we ask that you select a set menu from the seasonal dishes available at the time, with all guests served the same menu. Guests with dietary requirements will of course be provided with suitable alternatives.The wine list at Montrose focuses on small producers who respect the land they farm and the grapes they harvest. We are proud to offer a fully organic and capsule -free wine list. Alongside wine, our drinks offering includes organic beers and spirits, house and carefully crafted cocktails. Couples can choose paired drinks from £55 per person or simply select bottles of wine for the table.

Styling & Finishing Touches

The dining room will be ready for your arrival, with tables laid using linen napkins, place cards and any favours you would like to include. We style the venue with chunky cream pillar candles to create a warm and intimate atmosphere, but if you would prefer to introduce another colour palette, you are very welcome to bring your own candles, holders or table linens. Any floral arrangements supplied by your florist can be set in place before your arrival, and we are always happy to recommend trusted florists, musicians and photographers we have worked with previously.

Music & Evening Atmosphere

While Montrose does not have a dedicated dancefloor, there is plenty of space in the
downstairs bar for guests to enjoy music and celebrate into the evening. The space works particularly well for a DJ with a minimal setup, a live acoustic duo or curated background music throughout the day and evening. You are also very welcome to play your own playlist through our sound system to create the atmosphere that feel s right for your celebration. We can also provide late -night snacks to keep you and your guests celebrating until midnight.

Rather than a traditional venue hire fee, Montrose works on a minimum spend basis for food and drinks. We can offer a range of options and price points depending on the length of your event, your guest numbers and your overall budget.
